Swamp Thang.

Day's Narrative: We had an eggs, bacon and pancakes breakfast at the B&B and then took our time leaving for Starkville. It was a beautiful morning, with hardly any wind, cool temperatures and bright sun.

I guess if there has been an uneventful day this was pretty close. We stopped at various roadside attractions on the Trace Parkway, including another swamp, and met Connie at the village of French Camp for lunch. After lunch we left the Parkway and cut over to Mississippi State Road 12 to go to Starkville, home of Mississippi State University. We had a tailwind most of the way on State Road 12, and arrived in Starkville about 4 p.m. Connie was waiting at the motel, having just finished her nap.

Tomorrow we hope to go to Tupelo, MS, birthplace of Elvis Presley. That is, if it doesn't rain too much. The current plans are to layover in Tupelo an extra day to rest and sight see a bit -- assuming the weather cooperates.

Tomorrow night (Sunday) we will be at the Mockingbird B&B in Tupelo, Ph. 601-841-0286. This is a real treat for us, since it's across the street from Elvis' school.
