Day's Narrative: Last night I went to the motel office to use their phone line to update the web page. After several tries I got onto the Mindspring account.

Since this was a day off for us I went out for a small ride early to enjoy the morning cool and the Badlands in the early sun. See Photos 1 and 2.

After I got back Connie and I went for breakfast at the A&M Cafe down the road, then out for a tandem ride in Badlands National Park. During one of the rest stops while pushing the bike up to Norbeck Pass we took each others picture (Photos 3 & 4.)

Along the road we went on a short walk where they had glassed displays of prehistoric fossils found in the Park. Someone told us that the first Badlands Park superintendent was in one of the glass cases, but we were unable to locate the display.

All the formations in the Park are dirt. While we were at one of the overlooks we heard a tourist near us remark, "Not too bad for a gully."

Tomorrow I will be riding to Murdo on Interstate 90 frontage road, about 70 miles. The temperature today is warmer than yesterday -- about 94F (33C). I assume tomorrow will also be hot.
