Day's Narrative: My brother Jim and I cruised around Munfordville reminiscing this morning (photo 1 and 2), then Jim, Connie and I drove to Erlanger, KY to the Cincinnati airport to pick up Steve Maister. We went to the gate of his plane and couldn't find Steve. As it turned out, he had arrived three hours earlier on another flight and was waiting for us at the baggage claim. We drove back to Munfordville and arrived back at the motel around 7 pm. [Connie] It was good to find Steve at the baggage claim just as we were about to try to track him down in New York. We were thinking of ways to try to find out where he was after he didn't come off the plane as expected. After the three hour drive, in actuality--2 hours by the clock-since it changes from Eastern to Central time getting to Munfordville from the airport, we all went across the street to "Sheldon's Country Fixins" for dinner. As we ate a group of costumed "Confederate soldiers" in town for tomorrow's Civil War days arrived for dinner. They are supposed to be camping in the park by the river and living the life of the soldiers at the battle time. I don't think those original soldiers had the option of a restaurant meal, but these guys are reenactors and, therefore, entitled to a little bit of creature comfort before the big day. Tomorrow, we assemble and check out bikes before heading for town and the Civil War festivities. © Ray & Connie Poore, 1997
