The World of Lynne and Robby.

Robby's Mom came out to visit and will help us through our transition to parenthood. Kids and Parents are happy, healthy, and looking forward to years of love, adventure, and snacks.
December 2006 Curtis Novak, one of Robby's friends from High School came out to visit and look around for a possible place to relocate. Great to see him again. Our good friend Sue moved to Boston...while we are very happy for her, we are sad to see her leave. Much of the other time in December was preparing for the MicroVargs and enjoying our Christmas holiday at home. Went to a great party at Zach and Nancy's house for New Years!
November 2006 Our friend Cheryl Stein got her PhD (Hooray!). Had a nice thanksgiving with Family... and had more preparations for the arrival of our twins...
October 2006 Robby went on the three-day version of the Cycle NC "Mountains to the Sea" bike trip with Jonathan and Sue, it was a great time. See the photos here. Robby's band (Thee Myspelled) then recorded in Atlanta the following weekend, and we got to see Isabelle, Ian, Jonathan, and Stacy. The next weekend our good friends Mitch and Paula came out for some NASCAR... we went to the Orange County Speedway on Saturday and then Martinsville VA on Sunday. Mitch and Paula stuck around through the next week checking out Chapel Hill... they even got to see a taping of Bandelirium at the Cave. It was really great having them here.
Septermber 2006 Lynne defended her PhD proposal! Big news. A few days later we set off on a mad trip to Paris and London. Had a great time, even hooked up with Robby's old pal Dominic, who he slummed around Europe with back in 1984. It was great to meet Dom's wife Georginia and 1 year-old son Francis. Also had a great time with one of our best friends Jenny in London. A great time! Pictures here. Lynne's definately starting to show that she's pregnant. Went to the beach with Andrew (Scott) Allen and family for a weekend after that trip, we had a great time.
August 2006 Lynne had her yearly birthday on the 2nd... and then the anniversary of our dating (we met in 1984... you do the math!) on the 9th. Saw The Clientele at the Local 506 (great show). On the 17th of August we decided it was time to tell the news... Lynne is pregnant! Yes, it's true. And to top that off, pregnant with twins. We're due on February 14th, 2007. Whew... gonna be a fun spring.
July 2006 We went to Atlanta for the 4th of July, saw Jonathan, Stacy, Isabelle, and Ian, had a great time with them. Drew and Karen Voetsch came to town and we saw them over at Jennifer Wesson's house for a nice party. The Handsome Family were on tour this month, Robby went up to see them in DC and stayed the weekend with Cousins Michael, Lilie, Elizabeth, and William. He also got to see our good friend Laura McNamara, who is up there for work. Lynne couldn't make it (that PhD...), but Robby played the gig with the Handsomes up there, and again with them a few days later in Chapel Hill. The whole band stayed at Casa Biovarg and it was good to hang out. Jonathan went to his High School reunion in Los Alamos, had a great time seeing all his friends again.
June 2006 Lynne's parents came to visit at the beginning of the month, that was a lot of fun: went to Pittsboro, ate North Carolina BBQ and showed them around Chapel Hill. They were here for about 5 days, great to see them. Our good friend Sam Hunt graduated from High School, after the summer he'll attend UNC Asheville. We went to the beach once, and Lynne continued working on her PhD...
May 2006 Lynne's first trip outside of NC since October was to Jacksonville, FLA, for an STD conference. Robby went whitewater rafting with Uncle Bob and Cousin Austin up on the New River in WVA. Robby took over the helm of WXDU's "Who's Got The Cuckoo?!", the Garage-Rock show. Still have the Friday morning (7-9am EDT) shift, please listen! www.wxdu.org. Work contiunes at UNC, annual report season is now in full force at Robby's work. The UNC outdoor pool opens! Apr 2006 Robby and his mother Anne went to Italy for two weeks! April 2-16. Robby went to Rome for a few days then met Anne in Udine (North Italy), then travelled to Venice, Florence, Naples, Pompeii, and Rome. Pictures here. Poor Lynne stayed back in NC to work on her PhD. We had to miss the Tour De Georgia this year... next one we plan to go to. Mar 2006 Our good friends Dionne and Aaron (and Mary and Maggie) moved to Montana.. sad to see them go, they were the first friends here in Chapel Hill. Dionne's got a teaching job and Aaron has a Post-doc up there in the wilds of Montana. We hope to go visit them sometime... Other than that it was a pretty quiet month, with Lynne chugging away on the PhD.
Feb 2006 Bandelirum began shooting at the Cave, Robby's been doing sound and lights for the music-trivia game show. On the 19th Robby Dj'd a mystery show with his friend Stephen, all on truck driving music of the 70s. Next month Robby plans to go record with his group Thee Myspelled in Atlanta. Lynne continues with her PhD research, hopefully getting her proposal written in the next month. Robby and his mom Anne are planning thier trip to Italy, tickets were purchased and hotels booked. Also got to see more of Rachel, Thierry, Ben, and Henry which was nice, haven't seen those guys in a while.
Jan 2006 A quiet month keeping Lynne on task with her PhD work. Art night continues with Scott Allen, and Robby's getting ready for a new season of Bandelirium at the Cave.
Dec 2005 It's been a busy month: UNM Men's Soccer got into the NCAA finals, Enrique and Emiliano came out to see the games. UNM lost in the final, but we are really proud of them. After that MamaVarg came to visit for two weeks during Christmas, we all had a great time cooking and seeing friends/family. Jonathan and Isabelle and Ian came to visit for a few days for Robby's 40th birthday(!). Marlene came to visit for a few days at the beginning of the new year.
Nov 2005 Lynne's still working on her PhD, beginning the writing phase of the dissertation. The current consensus is that she'll finish in the summer. She is currently working on her dissertation project with the North Carolina Department of Public Health, screening for syphilis in NC county jails. Robby went to Atlanta to hang out with Live Bob (Greg Hansen), who was there at a confernce. We're looking forward to MamaVarg visiting us over Christmas, and don't have any travel plans in the forseeable future (odd for us).
Oct 2005 Saw Gang of Four! Great to finally see one of the greatest bands ever. Quiet month, mostly, in which Lynne worked on her dissertation. Went to Drew and Karen's wedding in NYC, had a blast! Congrats! Also got to stay in Brian and Sarah's apartment in Manhattan, thanks! Sept 2005 Jim and Debbie wed at their house in Carrboro, it was a fantastic ceremony and party. Not a week later they were on the road to live in Cuernavaca, Mexico for the next few years... Marlene came to town toward the end of the month, had a great time. I'm still dj'ing Fridays 7-9am.

Aug 2005 Went to Lynne's 20th High School Reunion in Los Alamos, had a great time. Photos are here. Great to see everyone! After this we hung out in Albuquerque with MamaVarg and the fellows in Selsun Blue, as well as Brett and Rennie. Then, to add to the craziness we went to Altanta to see Jonathan, Stacy, Isabelle, and Ian. We were pretty exhausted after all that travel, but happy. From this reunion we heard from our good high school friend Scott Allen, who wrote an email to us out of the blue.. we find out he lives in Chapel Hill and is a research faculty member at Duke! After more info, we found out that he and his family have been up here in the area for 4 years.. and before that were in Atlanta! Hmm....seems they've been following us... Anyhow, Scott and Robby have been having "art night" at our house every week since August.
July 2005 We went on a trip to Europe during the first 2 weeks of July! We blogged it here.
The first week we were on a bike trip through the Rheinland-Pfalz in
Germany, then to a bit of Stage 7 & 8 of the Tour de France, then
the 2nd week we were in Amsterdam so Lynne can go to the International
Society of Sexually Transmitted Disease Research converence (ISSTDR). Came back just in time to relax for a couple of weeks and then head back to NM for Lynne's 20th High School Reunion.
June 2005 A busy month that led up to an even busier month (see above). Went to NM with good friend Chris Toenes, had a blast. Met up with Lynne who was at CSTE (Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists). Lynne also went over to Phoenix to see her family for a weekend. Next weekend Robby went to Atlanta to help with Jonathan and Stacy's new house. Next weekend after that we had Lynne's sister Charlotte, husband Greg, and their kids Marissa and Mariah to visit at Casa Biovarg, had a great time with them. The next weekend after this we were in Europe! Whew! December 2004 Flew to New Mexico for Christmas, had a crazy time gettin there: our Dallas to Albuquerque flight on Christmas Eve was cancelled, and we were put on standby. After some thought we figured that we probably wouldn't make it that night if we waited for the next plane, so we rented a car and drove all day and night to Albuquerque. We were tired, but it was a beautiful drive through the snowy plains with a full moon. Made it to Albuquerque by 11pm! Had great time in NM, wonderful to be back again. Went to Atlanta for New Years Eve (Woggles and 45s!). November 2004 Flew up to NYC to hang out with our good friends in the Handsome Family, and got to see Darrell as an added bonus. Met them again in DC, Robby played at the IOTA in Arlington with them.
September 2004 Went to NM to see our good friends Reuben and Danielle get married in Santa Fe! Great seeing them, and congrats!
Aug 2004 We went to Robby's 20th High School Reunion... had a great time. Here are some pictures from it, it was a blast! Here's the site for 1984, Los Alamos New Mexico. Could there have been a more perfect time and place to totally experience the paranoia, fear and loathing of the Cold War than 1984 in Los Alamos?
Speaking of 1984, we've been dating since then, too. I posted some photos of us and some friends on this Old Pictures Page. Enjoy! Meanwhile, here is a picture of us in New York in 2001.
Oct 2003 Robby and Jonathan went back to Heidelberg Germany. Heidelblog ist hier.
Jan 2002 We bought a house! Check out our House page.
