August 2nd

Today is Lynne's Birthday!

The past couple of days have been spent enjoying the sunshine and relaxing with MamaVarg. We have been eating pretty well too. Albuquerque is getting those afternoon thunderstorms, big clouds accumulate on the Sandias.

Jack's is still one of our favorite watering holes; we met Brian, Brent and Shawn there on friday night and had a good time. Alan Deem made a quick appearance, and we saw Keith as well. The place is still sleazy after all these years! After the bar closed at 2am, we headed to the Frontier for some sweet rolls and western hashbrowns (cheese and green chile). It is such a meat market in there now, what looked like high schoolers all dressed up and strutting around... pretty funny. We didn't hear the man who whistles when he calls the numbers (sixty-six!), we'll have to come back during a morning shift to hear that.

Lynne spent some time with Cheryl yesterday and helped her move to her new house ... that makes 2 moves in Albuquerque...BioVarg Movers at your service! Actually, we are trying to keep the moving karma good since we will be needing some help ourselves once we get back to the East...

We had dinner with Mama Varg and Jay last night - Nebraska steaks with green chile and scalloped potatoes. Mmmmmm. Then we went over to Brian's place to hang out with him and Brent and Shawn came over too. It was one of those very Albuquerque nights -- sitting in someone's apartment in the student ghetto drinking Coronas and talking about nothing in particular. It was great.

Tonight (Sunday) we are going to camp with Greg up near his new home in Tajique in the Manzano Mountains. Kathleen is out here visiting her Mom and she will join us as well. Perfect for Lynne's birthday. We will post pictures tomorrow.
